Terumo Establishes "Terumo Group Human Rights Policy"
To be a Socially Trusted Company, and to Achieve a Sustainable Society
TOKYO, JAPAN - December 10, 2019 - Terumo Corporation (TSE: 4543) announced today on Human Rights Day, that it has established the "Terumo Group Human Rights Policy".
Since its founding in 1921, Terumo has led business guided by the group mission of "Contributing to Society through Healthcare", and has respected the rights of various stakeholders including patients, healthcare providers, and associates.
As a global leader in the healthcare industry, the company has signed the United Nations Global Compact in 2012, agreeing to the corporate sustainability initiative including the respect for human rights. Furthermore, in 2019 Terumo has established the group "Core Values" to be shared by and connect associates worldwide. The Core Values define acts of respect and integrity, as well as the care for patients, as an important principle all Terumo associates should reflect. The "Terumo Group Code of Conduct" also states the "Respect for Human Rights" as every associate's guide to day-to-day business activities.
Additionally, the "Terumo Group Procurement Policy" and "Supplier Guidelines" address the respect of human rights, as well as requesting external business partners such as material and service suppliers to consider human rights.
The "Terumo Group Human Rights Policy" aims to clarify Terumo Group's position and responsibility on human rights, which are described in the existing policies, and express its commitment to promote human rights. The policy supports and respects the United Nation's "Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights". As a company that provides products and services relating to the lives and health of people, the policy identifies the importance of human rights, prioritizing specific themes such as creating safe and worker-friendly environments, complying with fair labor practices, and ensuring the quality and safety of products and services.
The policy will be applied to the entire Terumo group. Terumo aims to advance respect for human rights, in order to strive to become a socially trusted company, and to contribute to achieving a sustainable society.

Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10, to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
